Push: Your Running Limits

Pushing your limits as a runner is extremely important in order to improve your overall fitness level, distance and pace. It can be easy to plateau at a repetitive speed and distance once you’ve become comfortable with your routine. To avoid getting stuck in a fitness rut, I put together some of my favorite tips below to help prevent this from happening to your runs:

Keep track of your milage: During my runs, I use the Mapmyrun app to keep track of my milage. This app also stores my running history so I can go back and reference my performance. Having this information allows me to track my growth over time and keep myself motivated.

Make performance goals: In addition to tracking your milage, make distance and pace goals for the month. Having an end goal in mind will help you navigate a path to achieve your goal sooner. Also, be realistic when making these goals. Throughly evaluate your current running performance and then set a plan.

Invest in a running watch: In addition to using an app, a running watch can also help you stay on track with your pace and milage. This extra tool will keep you updated with your performance in real time during your run. This constant reminder of your speed will also keep you motivated to achieve your goals.

Great post, I’ve used MapMyFitness app during my runs. It’s always good to keep track of your mileage. For the watch, there are lots of watch in the market. Apple Watches are a tad dear. Which ones do you recommend?
